Hey, when David Price wants a baseball…

Former Vanderbilt pitcher David Price has always wanted the baseball.

Even when the home-plate umpire is shaken up, a pitcher has to stay loose, right?

That was the case when this moment occurred on July 4, 2015 in Detroit during Price’s stay with the Tigers. Home-plate umpire Andy Fletcher was shaken up momentarily and needed a little time to recuperate.

Fear not. Price did ask for, and received, permission to get a baseball.

Price went on to get the victory that day in an 8-3 win over the Toronto Blue Jays, sending his record to 8-2. The losing pitcher was Nashville product, R.A. Dickey, who played at Montgomery Bell Academy and the University of Tennessee. Dickey fell to 3-9 that day.
